Ah, Facebook…whether you’re a fan of it or not, it remains top dog in social media marketing overall. At this point, many companies have established a Facebook marketing campaign – and who wouldn’t? It, along with several other social media platforms, has grown into one of the most effective ways of reaching your audience online to date.
However, while there aren’t any rules written in stone on how to use it, there are ways you may end up driving traffic away from your page instead of gaining it. Are you making these mistakes in Facebook marketing?
Mistake #1: Not Having Consistent Information
Facebook is now one of the main resources for search engines to index your NAP – AKA, your name, address, and phone number. If you have relocated your company but not updated your Facebook profile, you may be in trouble. Having inconsistent information will not only confuse your customers, but also search engines, and as a result sales and traffic may suffer.
Mistake #2: Treating Your Business Page Like Your Personal Profile
Just because you have Facebook doesn’t mean you should act so casually as to share the first thing you laugh at in the morning, or click Like on every single item in your News Feed. This will lead to irrelevant content being shared on your Business page and likely have a negative impact on the audience you’re trying to reach out to.
You need to treat your Business profile on Facebook the way you treat your own company – as a business. That means sharing content from your website’s blog, liking and sharing news articles that relate to your company, positive news related to your industry, and so on. These are all great ideas of how to promote your Business page and break through the rest of the noise your competition is making.
Mistake #3: Having NO Info about Your Company
Just like your regular website, having photos and the brand demonstrating who you are and what you represent should also be reflected on your Facebook page. Not only does there have to be strong and appealing imagery, but also you need to make sure there is information about you in the About section – same deal as having an About page on your site.
If you want your company to be found, include this information – not doing so could be costing you the customers you’re looking for.
Mistake #4: Not Paying Attention to the Audience
Nothing says “Don’t Click Here” faster than a slow to no response to a comment on your page. Whether feedback on your page is negative or positive, response time matters more than you may even realize.
What also doesn’t help is not paying attention to what your audience is looking for or in need of – what do they need that you can provide to them through Facebook? If you can figure it out, you’ll be taking a step in the right direction with your overall campaign.
